A Bit About Me
Hi, I’m Jen Ohlsson—teacher, therapist, tutor, mum, and someone who genuinely cares about helping people grow and thrive.
I’ve spent over 15 years working as a secondary school teacher and Head of Year, supporting hundreds of young people through their academic, personal, and emotional journeys. It’s a role I’ve poured my heart into, and it’s taught me so much about resilience, compassion, and the power of connection.
Despite being dyslexic, I built a successful career teaching English Language, Literature, and Media Studies. I know first-hand how it feels to face challenges that can knock your confidence, but I also know the joy of overcoming them. It’s this understanding that drives me to create an environment where my clients and students feel safe, supported, and capable of achieving incredible things.
My passion for equality, diversity, and inclusion has shaped every step of my career. I’ve worked with students from all walks of life, including those with ESL needs, ASD, autism, SpLD, and low literacy levels. I firmly believe that everyone deserves respect, trust, and kindness, and those values sit at the core of how I work with others.
But life hasn’t always been easy. I’ve faced emetophobia, trauma, depression, anxiety, and undiagnosed ADHD. For a long time, I felt like I was just ‘getting through’ rather than truly living. It took time, therapy, mindfulness, and a lot of patience with myself to start finding my balance again. Those experiences aren’t things I hide away—they’re part of who I am, and they help me connect with others who might be facing their own struggles.
Outside of work, I live in a little corner of North Wales with my husband, two brilliant kids, a daft dog, and four hens who rule the roost (literally). We value community, kindness, and finding joy in the small things—like family walks, cosy evenings, and homemade Sunday dinners.
When you work with me—whether in therapy, tutoring, or mentoring—you’ll find someone who is approachable, down-to-earth, and deeply invested in your success.
The Power of Hypnotherapy
I’ll be honest—I used to think hypnotherapy was a circus act, all pocket watches and “look into my eyes.” But the truth couldn’t be more different. Real hypnotherapy is a deeply relaxing, powerful tool that allows us to tap into the subconscious mind, creating space for real, lasting change.
It’s helped so many people overcome anxiety, manage stress, ease mild depression, break free from habits like smoking, and build confidence. I’ve gone from sceptic to believer because I’ve seen it work, and I’d love to help you experience that transformation too.
Tailored Tutoring for Individual Growth
Every student has their own story, their own strengths, and their own challenges—and that’s why no two tutoring sessions I offer are ever the same. Whether your goal is academic success, building confidence, or developing personal growth skills, I design each session to meet your specific needs.
With over 15 years of experience teaching Key Stage 3 and 4 students, I’m supremely confident in my ability to guide learners towards success. But it’s not just about grades—it’s about helping students feel capable, calm, and ready to face whatever challenges come their way.
I combine well-researched lesson planning with my extensive training in well-being and mindfulness to create sessions that aren’t just educational but empowering. Whether we’re tackling Shakespeare, exam stress, or self-belief, my goal is to make every session a space where students feel heard, valued, and ready to grow.
At the heart of everything I do—whether it’s therapy, tutoring, or mentoring—is the belief that with the right support, encouragement, and space to breathe, we’re all capable of incredible things.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my site... I hope to meet you soon!
Jen x
